Upcoming Obstacle Course Racing Races
Mud, walls, barbed wire, rope climbs, ice water, and fire. Obstacle Course Racing is the most theatrical endurance sport on the event calendar — part race, part military obstacle course, part carnival. No two OCR events have exactly the same course design, and that beautiful unpredictability is entirely the point. You train for the unknown.
The three landmark formats define the discipline. The Sprint (5–7 km, around 20 obstacles) delivers maximum intensity in minimum time — fast enough for a morning out, brutal enough to humble the unprepared. The Super (10–13 km, 25 obstacles) is the sweet spot for athletes who want a full physical challenge without a multi-hour sufferfest. The Beast (20–25 km, 30+ obstacles) is the flagship distance that separates weekend warriors from genuine OCR athletes. All formats welcome first-timers and competitive elites on the same course — wave starts ensure both groups get clean racing.
OCR trains everything at once: grip strength, running economy, shoulder endurance, mental resilience, and the crucial ability to keep moving efficiently when you're covered in freezing mud at kilometre 18. Teams are a fixture of the scene — tacit agreements to get each other over every wall, no matter what. The post-race hosing-down is universally agreed to be the best part of the day.
