Gravel events in our region are unlike anything on the road calendar. Routes wind through Carpathian foothills along river valleys, cross the vast Podilian plains on forgotten agricultural roads, trace former railway lines converted to gravel paths, and explore terrain that hasn't seen competitive cycling since long before GPS existed. Event distances range from a 60 km discovery loop — perfect for road cyclists making their first gravel start — to 500 km+ ultra-gravel challenges that demand multi-day self-sufficiency, navigation skill, and a very particular kind of mental endurance.
The gravel community values adventure and self-reliance over pure speed. Riders carry their own repair kits, navigate by GPS and instinct, and often stop at hilltop viewpoints that road pelotons blast past without noticing.
